Investing is a serious job.

And it requires a lot of time, effort, and energy.
That too, for long periods of time.

This is why it is said that investment is a marathon, not a sprint.

It is a lifelong journey.

The quest for high performing portfolio led me to create a process and approach when comes to building a Portfolio and selecting High Performing Mutual Funds

I call it the S.M.A.R.T Alpha Matrix!

S – Systems & Process

• Screening Criteria: Start with quantitative filters—fund AUM > ₹500 crores (for liquidity), vintage >5 years, and consistent category ranking (top quartile over 3/5 years)`

M – Market Compatibility with Portfolio

Not every fund thrives in every market regime. The Market Compatibility pillar evaluates how a fund's style, sector bias, Portfolio Construct and beta fit your overall portfolio and the prevailing economic cycle.

A – Alpha (Higher Returns than benchmark)

Alpha is the holy grail: risk-adjusted outperformance over the benchmark. Always your portfolio returns should be higher than the benchmark.

R – Risk & Reward Ratios

Returns without risk control are illusions. The Risk & Reward Ratios pillar quantifies trade-offs.

T – Track Record

Past performance isn't a guarantee, but a 7–10 year track record across bull/bear markets reveals resilience.

The S.M.A.R.T Alpha Matrix builds high-performing portfolios that consistently deliver superior risk-adjusted returns, accelerating your path to financial independence and long- term wealth goals.

WEEKLY MARKET PULSE

• Indian equity markets extended their winning streak for the second consecutive week, this week saw
strong sector rotation and Nifty & Sensex Rise 1% Each

• Midcap Index & Small Cap Move in Line with the benchmarks and rallied 1% and 2.7% respectively

• PSU Bank, Defence & Metal Indices Gain the Most, while Capital Market is the Top Losing Index

• Among Nifty 50 stocks, Hindalco (+8.7%), Grasim (+7.2%), SBI (+6.8%) and Shriram Finance (+6.5%) were
among the notable winners.

• Brent crude declined around 7.3% during the week to $82.21/barrel. Lower crude prices are generally
positive for India because of its significant dependence on imported oil.

• Nifty Financial Services fell 0.73% ( Bajaj Finance down by -5.5% ) due to profit booking and regulatory
headwinds affecting non-bank lenders.

• The RBI kept the repo rate unchanged at 5.25% and retained its neutral stance. The decision was largely
expected, so the immediate market reaction was muted.

Specialised Investment Funds (SIF): The Next Evolution in Investing

India's investment landscape is evolving, and investors are looking for
solutions beyond traditional mutual funds. Specialised Investment
Funds (SIFs) are a new SEBI-regulated investment category designed
to bridge the gap between mutual funds and Portfolio Management
Services (PMS).
Who Should Consider SIFs?
SIFs are ideal for investors who:
• Have a higher risk appetite.
• Seek advanced investment strategies.
• Want greater portfolio flexibility.
• Prefer a regulated investment framework with professional fund
management.
SIFs offer greater flexibility in investment strategies while maintaining the
transparency and regulatory oversight associated with mutual funds.
Key Benefits
• Access to specialised investment strategies.

• Greater flexibility than conventional mutual funds.

THIS WEEK MY TOP SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENTS

IT’S NOT HOW MUCH YOU INVEST. IT’S HOW LONG.

Screenshot 2026-07-27 110820.png

“Start investing early. We hear it all the time. But how much difference can 5 years really make?

Let’s take a simple example:

Rohit starts at 25. Nandhini starts at 30.

Both invest ₹10,000/month at an assumed 12% annual return and stop at 45.

At 45:

Rohit
Invests for 20 years
Invests ₹24 lakh
Corpus: ~₹99 lakh

Nandhini
Invests for 15 years
Invests ₹18 lakh
Corpus: ~₹50 lakh
Difference: ~₹49 lakh

Rohit invested only ₹6 lakh more, but ended up with almost ₹49 lakh more.

Why?

Not a higher income. Not a bigger SIP. Just 5 extra years of compounding.

Your income can grow later. Your SIP can increase later. But you can never get back lost time.

Start early. Stay consistent. Let compounding do the heavy lifting.
